Togbe Afede XIV, the Chairman of Hearts of Oak Football Club, has officially confirmed the organization’s intentions to construct a stadium with a seating capacity of 25,000 spectators. Despite recent challenges faced on the field, the club is in the final stages of completing the Pobiman Complex, a multifaceted facility encompassing player accommodations and training amenities.
The playing team is presently utilizing certain sections of the training facility as they make preparations for the upcoming 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
In a meeting with various stakeholders, Togbe Afede conveyed the future plans, stating, “Upon the completion of the Pobiman Complex, the only aspect we are yet to have is a sizable stadium.” He emphasized that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) mandates a minimum stadium capacity of 25,000. As part of their forward-looking vision, the board has already initiated the process of identifying suitable land for the stadium.
He acknowledged the complexities of the endeavor, saying, “We are meticulously addressing all the necessary aspects, but it’s an intricate process.”
Additionally, the club is in the process of finalizing their Secretariat in the coming months.
Notably, Hearts of Oak encountered difficulties in securing a position within the Premier League’s top four last season, narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day. However, the team is set to commence the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season with an away match against Heart of Lions at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
