Asante Kotoko SC has officially announced the acquisition of defender Ansu Henry from Berekum Chelsea, ahead of the upcoming football season. The 24-year-old has signed a three-season contract with the Porcupine Warriors after successfully completing his medical assessment and finalizing the necessary paperwork.
Ansu Henry, a center-back, has been a consistent presence for Berekum Chelsea over the past three seasons, making a total of 83 appearances and contributing seven goals during his tenure. His standout performances earned him recognition as the man of the match on two occasions in the previous season, during which he participated in 23 matches for the Berekum-based club.
Renowned for his experience and reliability in the heart of the defense, Ansu Henry is regarded as one of the top center-backs in Ghana’s elite division. He was also part of the Ghana national team that competed in the 2022 CHAN tournament held in Algeria earlier this year.
Expressing his delight about joining Asante Kotoko, Ansu Henry stated, “It’s a dream come true because this is a club that most players dream of as a young player, and I am happy to be one of the lucky few.”
The head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum, is expected to rely on Ansu Henry’s experience to provide stability to the team’s defense. Ansu Henry, in turn, is enthusiastic about embracing this new challenge and contributing to the team’s success. He expressed his readiness to leave a mark and help Asante Kotoko secure various trophies in the upcoming season.
Having joined his new teammates for pre-season training, Ansu Henry is gearing up for the 2023-24 season, which is set to kick off in the coming month. Asante Kotoko fans eagerly anticipate the impact of the new signing as the team prepares to compete in the upcoming football campaign.
