Techiman Eleven Wonders, a team in the Division One League, has resolved the issue of unpaid wages owed to coach Mensah Logosu. Despite leading Eleven Wonders in their bid for promotion to the Ghana Premier League, the coach had not received his salary for the past four months, totaling six thousand Ghana cedis.
Coach Logosu had previously threatened to take the matter to the Ghana Football Association in order to claim his unpaid wages. In order to avoid potential sanctions from the Ghana Football Association, the club based in Techiman has now settled all outstanding payments owed to the coach. Coach Logosu and his manager, Stephen Puro, visited the club’s secretariat, where the salary arrears were settled.
In a Facebook post, the club announced, “Management settled Coach Mensah Logosu’s salary arrears this afternoon when the coach and his manager Mr Stephen Puro visited our Secretariat.”
However, in an interview, Coach Logosu revealed that he had actually been owed wages for the past six months. He mentioned that he had maintained a good relationship with the club and had occasionally received small amounts of money, such as GHS 300 or GHS 400, but the outstanding salary arrears were a significant issue.
“I’ve been quiet because of the project I’m working on at the club, but if I become angry and decide to cause trouble, I will disrupt the project. That’s why I’ve remained silent all this time. The project is what is gradually raising my profile as a coach,” he explained.
Coach Logosu further mentioned that he had sent messages to the club requesting payment of his outstanding wages, threatening to involve the Ghana Football Association if the issue was not resolved. He emphasized that he deserved to be paid for his hard work and that he had responsibilities, including caring for his children. The coach found the treatment he had received from the club to be unbearable and believed that they needed to fulfill their part of the agreement.
