The football community is mourning the loss of former Hearts of Oak great, Mr. Vincent K. Louis, renowned as the ‘Cornerkick Specialist,’ following his passing on July 4. The iconic figure, known for his exceptional skills, is being remembered as a remarkable talent and a paragon of integrity. His final resting place is scheduled for the upcoming weekend.
One of his contemporaries, Mohammad Polo, esteemed as the Dribbling ‘Magician’ and the Dribbling Professor, praised Louis as not only a football luminary but also a man of great virtue. Polo emphasized Louis’ unwavering integrity, highlighting his consistent presence at Accra Hearts of Oak Old Players Association (AHOPA) meetings and the respect he commanded among his peers.
Polo also shared a personal anecdote, recounting a conversation he had with Louis during a somber occasion. Louis had advised Polo to pursue his projects diligently, a piece of advice that took on deeper significance upon Louis’ passing.
Reflecting on Louis’ approachability and genuine demeanor, Polo emphasized the senior’s relatable and respectful interaction with younger players, noting that he was a man of integrity.
Preparations for Louis’ final farewell are underway. His body will be received at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra on Friday morning, followed by a solemn viewing. A burial Mass and private interment are scheduled for the same day. On Sunday, a Thanksgiving service will celebrate the legacy of the 87-year-old building contractor.
